Qalam Collegiate Academy is committed to offering quality education to its students. In order to fulfill this commitment, QCA has decided to follow the guidelines set by the TEA (Texas Education Agency). Therefore, Qalam Collegiate academy offers STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness), consequently, our curriculum is based on the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills).
TEKS outline the objectives of each course developed by the Texas Education Agency. At the end of the year, students are assessed through the STAAR tests to show mastery of these objectives.
STAAR Tests offered are as follows:
Grade 5: Math, Reading and Science
Grade 6: Math and Reading
Grade 7: Math, Reading and Writing
Grade 8: Algebra 1, Reading, Science and Social Studies
High School students will have to pass 5 EOC (End of year assessments), in order to graduate: Algebra 1, Biology, English 1, English 2 and U.S. History.
By enrolling in the Dual Credit Program with Richland College, and fulfilling the High School requirements our students graduate with a High School Diploma and an Associate Degree.
